The T-DNA tagged mutant gene of Arabidopsis thaliana, mei1, produces after meiosis an abnormal tetrad, consisting of five to eight microspores of varying sizes and DNA contents. Plant DNA flanking the inserted T-DNA was isolated by inverse PCR.
