Thirty-nine isolates of Fusarium verticillioides from maize seeds from three regions of Costa Rica were classified on fertility, fumonisin production, vegetative compatibility and pathogenicity. The identity of the isolates was verified by sexual crosses with standard tester strains and by isozyme analysis.
