<h4>ABSTRACT</h4> <h4>Background</h4> Mayaro virus (MAYV) is a mosquito-borne alphavirus endemic to Latin America that causes fever and arthritis. Unlike the related chikungunya virus, MAYV has not caused widespread, human-amplified epidemics.
