Host-acting compounds are emerging as potential alternatives to combat antibiotic resistance. Here, we show that bosutinib, an FDA-approved chemotherapeutic for treating chronic myelogenous leukemia, does not possess any antibiotic activity but enhances macrophage responses to bacterial infection.
