The complete structure of the DNA encoding the polypeptide chain of porcine submaxillary mucin has been determined. The polypeptide is composed of distinct domains. A large central domain containing tandem repeats of 81 residues each is flanked by much shorter domains with sequences similar to the tandem repeats.
