A total of 951 backcross progeny have been obtained from a backcross segregating for the mouse deafness mutation, shaker-2(sh-2). Linkage analysis provides a detailed genetic map in the vicinity of sh-2 which comprises 40 backcross mice identified as recombinant within a 4 cM region.
