Forty-nine populations of brook charr (Salvelinus fontinalis) from Algonquin Park lakes and rivers were analysed for mitochondrial DNA variation. Haplotypic distributions of wild fish in the Algonquin Park region of Ontario, Canada, predominantly reflect postglacial dispersal patterns into the region in spite of substantial hatchery plantings.
