Pseudomonas aeruginosa PAO1 showed increased phenotypic resistance to imipenem, panipenem, and biapenem specifically in the presence of salicylate. The antipseudomonal activity of carbapenems was reduced in proportion to the concentration of salicylate. This resistance was transient and nonheritable.
