Monospermic cleavage-arrested human embryos were analysed by fluorescence in-situ hybridization using specific DNA probes for chromosomes X, Y and 18 simultaneously. Two groups of monospermic polyploid embryos could be distinguished: (i) embryos (n = 13) with only one large cell surrounded by smaller blastomere-sized extracellular fragments.
