Nucleotide sequences of portions of three plasmid genes (cib, cir, and abi) present in IncI1-ColIb colicin plasmids obtained from strains of Salmonella typhimurium isolated in either 1974 (Barker strains) or between 1935 and 1941 (Murray strains) were examined along with sequences of the chromosomal gene for 6-phosphogluconate dehydrogenase (gnd).
