Histologically normal breast tissue was obtained from women undergoing surgery for benign breast lesions (n = 12) and mammary carcinomas (n = 15). Four fibroblast subpopulations (FI, FII, FIII and FIV) were isolated from these specimens by differential digestion and centrifugation.
