PCR primers derived from porcine short and long interspersed repeat sequences were used to amplify DNA samples isolated from individual members of three-generation pig reference pedigrees. Subsequent high-resolution gel electrophoresis of both SINE and LINE-PCR products allowed direct visualisation of polymorphisms that segregated in a Mendelian manner.
