In order to identify a possible hereditary predisposition to the development of obstructive pulmonary disease of unknown origin, we have looked for the presence of Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Regulator (CFTR) gene mutations in unrelated patients with no signs of Cystic Fibrosis (CF).
