An adaptation of the Feulgen procedure to visualise DNA at the ultrastructural level, using osmium ammine instead of Schiff reagent, was applied to ultrathin sections of rabbit epididymal spermatozoa, known to display increasing chromatin compaction as they progress through the epididymis.
