BACKGROUND: Developing crops with high phytase activity offers a sustainable solution to combat phosphorus and micronutrient deficiencies. Phytase enzyme hydrolyzes the "phytic acid" into inorganic "phosphorus" and releases micronutrients that are bound to phytic acid.
