Guanarito virus (GTOV) is the causative agent of Venezuelan hemorrhagic fever. GTOV belongs to the genus Mammarenavirus, family Arenaviridae and has been classified as a Category A bioterrorism agent by the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
