Hepatitis E is a global health concern. Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is endemic in Pakistan. HEV has four genotypes: HEV-1 through HEV-4. The genotypes HEV-1 and HEV-2 are associated with infection in humans, especially in countries with poor sanitation.
