Hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), the most common inherited heart disease, is frequently caused by mutations in the β-cardiac myosin heavy chain gene (MYH7). Abnormal calcium handling and diastolic dysfunction are archetypical features of HCM caused by MYH7 gene mutations.
