Fluoropyrimidine chemotherapy is associated with interpatient variability in toxicity. A major contributor to unpredictable and severe toxicity relates to single nucleotide variation (SNV) in dihydropyrimidine dehydrogenase (DPYD), the rate-limiting fluoropyrimidine metabolizing enzyme.
