INTRODUCTION: Severe ADAMTS13 deficiency defines thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura (TTP). ADAMTS13 is responsible for VWF cleavage. In the absence of this enzyme, widespread thrombi formation occurs, causing microangiopathic anemia and thrombocytopenia and leading to ischemic organ injury.
