BACKGROUND: Myo1e is a nonmuscle motor protein enriched in podocytes. Mutations in MYO1E are associated with steroid-resistant nephrotic syndrome (SRNS). Most of the MYO1E variants identified by genomic sequencing have not been functionally characterized.
