OBJECTIVE: Flail arm syndrome (FAS) is one of the atypical subtypes of amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Mutations in hnRNPA1 encoding heterogeneous nuclear ribonucleoprotein (hnRNP) A1 are a rare genetic cause of ALS.
