PURPOSE: Chronic myelomonocytic leukemia (CMML) is a rare leukemia characterized by peripheral monocytosis with no disease-modifying therapies. CMML cells are uniquely hypersensitive to granulocyte-macrophage colony-stimulating factor (GM-CSF) and robustly engraft in immunocompromised mice that secrete human cytokines.
