Inhibition of the MEK/ERK pathway is critical for Bcl-2-like protein 11 (BIM)-mediated epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI)-induced apoptosis, and dysregulation of this pathway may be a mechanism of acquired resistance.
