Acute erythroid leukemia (AEL) is an acute leukemia characterized by erythroid lineage transformation. The World Health Organization (WHO) 2008 classification recognized two subtypes of AEL: bilineage erythroleukemia (erythroid/myeloid leukemia) and pure erythroid leukemia.
