The mitochondrial citrate carrier (CIC) is a nuclear-encoded protein located in the inner mitochondrial membrane. By mediating efflux of citrate from the mitochondria to the cytosol, CIC links mitochondrial central carbon metabolism and cytosolic lipogenesis together.
