BACKGROUND & AIMS: Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MPNs) are the most frequent cause of non-tumoural non-cirrhotic splanchnic vein thrombosis (NC-SVT). Diagnosis of MPN is based on blood cell count alterations, bone marrow histology, and detection of specific gene mutations.
