Cushing syndrome (CS) describes the signs and symptoms caused by exogenous or endogenous hypercortisolemia. Endogenous CS is caused by either ACTH-dependent sources (pituitary or ectopic) or ACTH-independent (adrenal) hypercortisolemia.
