OBJECTIVE: Focal cortical dysplasia type II (FCDII) is a malformation of cortex development commonly found in children with drug-resistant epilepsy. FCDII has been associated with somatic mutations in mammalian target of rapamycin (mTOR)-related pathway genes and an upregulation of mTOR.
