A Yunnan branched-spike (Ynbs) barley mutant is useful for study of the genetic mechanisms underlying variation in barley spike architecture. In the current study, a mutant (Ynbs-1), a recombinant inbred line (RIL-1), and a cultivar (BDM-8) were used as parents to develop populations.
