INTRODUCTION: Salmonella Schwarzengrund is most frequently isolated from poultry meat and can cause human infections. S. Schwarzengrund was isolated from diarrheal patients in a food poisoning event in Nanjing, China. METHODS: Three strains isolated from patients were microbiologically confirmed as S. Schwarzengrund.
