Abstract excerpt
Background and objectives Alpha-2 Macroglobulin (A2M) is a plasma protein with proteolytic effects on many proteases. In patients with an inborn alpha-1 antitrypsin deficiency (AATD) the homeostasis between proteases and antiproteases is disturbed.
