A 57-year-old man presented with high fever and diarrhea. A blood culture revealed the presence of a Group C nontyphoidal Salmonella (NTS) isolate. On Salmonella serotyping, the isolate was identified as Salmonella enterica serovar Virchow. Its sequence type was determined to be ST16 by sequence analysis of 7 different housekeeping genes.
