OBJECTIVES: To identify and characterize the oxazolidinone/phenicol resistance gene optrA in Staphylococcus isolates. METHODS: Fifty porcine staphylococci with florfenicol MICs of ≥16 mg/L were screened by PCR for the presence of the optrA gene.
