Pathogenic ALK translocations have been reported in papillary thyroid carcinoma (PTC). We developed and validated a screening algorithm based on immunohistochemistry (IHC), followed by fluorescence in situ hybridization (FISH) in IHC-positive cases to identify ALK-rearranged PTC.
