PURPOSE: The methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) 677C>T and 1298A>C polymorphisms, which are associated with hyperhomocysteinemia and nitric oxide (NO) deficiency (which is related to atherothrombosis and cerebral ischemia), have not been studied in moyamoya disease.
