The health-related hazards resulting from long-term exposure to radiation remain unknown. Thus, an appropriate molecular marker is needed to clarify these effects. Cyclin D1 regulates the cell cycle transition from the G 1 phase to the S phase. Cyclin D1 is degraded as a G1/S checkpoint after 10 Gy of single acute radiation exposure, whereas conversely, cyclin D1 is stabilized when human tumor cells are exposed...
