Neuroblastoma is a pediatric tumor of the sympathetic nervous system. Amplification and overexpression of the MYCN proto-oncogene occurs in approximately 20% of neuroblastomas and is associated with advanced stage disease, rapid tumor progression, and poor prognosis.
