The clpC operon in Staphylococcus aureus comprises four genes, denoted ctsR, mcsA, mcsB and clpC. A mutation within the mcsB gene resulted in hypersensitivity to heavy metal stress, temperature stress, osmotic pressure stress and oxidative stress.
