Diamond-Blackfan anemia is a rare inherited bone marrow failure syndrome diagnosed in early infancy that is characterized by a (a) macrocytic anemia with no other significant cytopenia, (b) reticulocytopenia, and (c) normal bone marrow cellularity with a paucity of erythroid precursors.
