Sucrose synthase (SUS) catalyzes the reversible conversion of sucrose and a nucleoside diphosphate into the corresponding nucleoside diphosphate-glucose and fructose. In Arabidopsis, a multigene family encodes six SUS (SUS1-6) isoforms.
