Chlamydomonas reinhardtii possesses a CO(2)-concentrating mechanism (CCM) that allows the alga to grow at low CO(2) concentrations. One common feature seen in photosynthetic organisms possessing a CCM is the tight packaging of Rubisco within the cell.
