Fanconi anemia (FA) is an inherited chromosomal instability syndrome characterized by bone marrow failure, myelodysplasia (MDS), and acute myeloid leukemia (AML). Eight FA proteins associate in a nuclear core complex to monoubiquitinate FANCD2/FANCI in response to DNA damage.
