Two enzymes, alpha glycerophosphate dehydrogenase (GPDH-1) in the cytoplasm and alpha glycerophosphate oxidase (GPO-1) in the mitochondrion cooperate in Drosophila flight muscles to generate the ATP needed for muscle contraction.
