OBJECTIVE: Oxidative stress is a major contributing factor in the development of diabetic nephropathy. Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor gamma heterozygous mice and Pro12Ala polymorphism in PPARG exhibited increased resistance to oxidative stress.
