4-Hydroxybutyrate CoA-transferases (4-HB-CoAT) takes part in the fermentation of 4-aminobutyrate to ammonia, acetate, and butyrate in anaerobic bacteria such as Clostridium aminobutyricum and Porphyromonas gingivalis or facultative anaerobic bacteria such as Shewanella oneidensis.
