One hundred beta-thalassemia major (beta-TM) patients and 100 individuals as control were included. Factor V Leiden and prothrombin G20210A and methylenetetrahydrofolate reductase (MTHFR) gene mutations were genotyped by PCR and allele-specific restriction enzyme techniques.
