A novel metabolite, LL-Z1272alpha epoxide, structurally related to ascochlorin, was isolated from the cultured mycelium of Ascochyta viciae J-29, a mutant derived from A. viciae Libert. The structure was elucidated on the basis of spectroscopic data.
