Plasma cell membrane glycoprotein-1 or ectonucleotide pyrophosphatase/phosphodiesterase (PC-1/ENPP1) has been shown to inhibit insulin signaling, and its genetic polymorphism or increased expression is associated with type 2 diabetes in humans.
