A motile, short rod-shaped and yellow-pigmented bacterium, designated strain CW5T, was isolated from a water-cooling system at Gwangyang, Republic of Korea. Cells were Gram-negative, facultatively anaerobic and catalase- and oxidase-positive. The major fatty acids were C18 : 1omega7c (64.7 %) and C16 : 0 (14.1 %). The DNA G+C content was 63.9 mol%.
